How we operate

Four principles we don't trade away.

01

Own for decades

We buy to hold. No fund clock, no forced exit, no pressure to flip a good business early.

02

Operators first

Management teams keep the wheel. The group supplies capital, governance, and back-office weight.

03

Regulated by habit

Care taught us to run to inspection standard everywhere — finance, data, and people included.

04

Conservative balance sheet

Modest leverage, retained earnings, and reserves sized for a bad year rather than a good one.

Governance

Stewardship before scale.

The group board meets quarterly with each operating company, reviewing safety, regulatory standing, staffing, and cash. Where a business is regulated, compliance sits above growth in every agenda we set.

Delegated authority limits are written down, risk registers are live documents rather than annual paperwork, and every division reports against the same monthly pack. The point is not bureaucracy — it is that nobody in the group has to guess who decides what, or how a problem gets escalated.

  • Independent oversight of every regulated entity
  • Consolidated reporting and group treasury
  • Annual review of capital allocation across divisions

Quarterly, without exception

Same room, same four questions: safety, regulation, people, cash.

What we look for

The businesses that suit us.

We are deliberately narrow. A short list of criteria means we can give owners a straight answer quickly rather than holding a process open for months.

Profitable and established

We look for businesses already trading profitably, typically with £1m–£20m of revenue and a track record long enough to show how they behave in a difficult year.

Essential, repeatable services

Care, facilities, maintenance, compliance, and business-critical services — work that is needed whatever the economic weather, and that rewards being done properly.

A team that wants to stay

We are buying the business as it is, not a plan to replace its leadership. Where an owner is retiring, we want a second line already in place or ready to be built.

UK-based operations

England first, with the rest of the UK considered case by case. We stay close enough to visit sites, meet teams, and understand the regulator that governs them.

How a conversation works

Four steps, no theatre.
